In Defense of the Medium Width Tie
Holy crap these guys read my mind!
A: After seeing Inception I couldn’t help but write a post about it. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, go see it, you won’t be disappointed.
I couldn’t help but notice that Christopher Nolan’s costume director eschewed the ever-shrinking tie trend. It’s true, skinny ties make you look slim, hip, and crisp and I admit, even I have jumped on the bandwagon. Yet, I couldn’t help being drawn to the power and classicism of the tie choices in Inception. There is definitely a time and place for the medium width tie, so remember to mix it up. A skinny tie is not appropriate for every occasion, no matter how trendy it is. Just think about this: if you were in multiple levels of reality, chasing down dudes with your silenced handgun, would you really be wearing a skinny tie? Yeah, I think not.
